Jesus Maria

Born 1970. He is 30 years old going into ths new millenium, the same age as the biblical Jesus when baptised by John before going into the desert to be tempted by satan.

Although our hero is in no way  a modern representation of Christ there are certain similarities between the two and many events which are partially mirrored. Our jesus, having lived all his life in the shadow of his namesake, is certainly influenced by him but this influence manifests itself as more of a total rebellion against Christian beliefs and values. But there are of course parts of the Christ image that our hero does enjoy and encourage within himself, ideas of being some kind of martyr, the rebellious and dangerous nature of Christ's work/message, his sacrifice and wisdom. He consciously plays up to these attributes, welcomes certain coincidences into his life... as having a french junk buddy called Jean Baptiste. Our hero is also obsessed with self-suffering and wounds and blood. He enjoys having left stigmata-like marks on his hands and feet from syringes being stuck into them. He sees himself in the vision of Grunewalds' Christ, as this sickly figure, fatally pierced and nailed, the body ruined by wounds and ulcers and insect bites. This is also a reference to Huyssman, the opening chapter of La-bas.

Mother:

Conceived our jesus at 14 years of age and gave birth before her 15th birthday. Dead of liver failure 1999. Jesus still living in her house, tortured by memories of junk days using together. The house is gradually falling into ruin mirroring Jesus's own descent and mental collapse, stranded alone with his family line gone and a fading comprehension of where he has come from and what he is of.
